Over the past two days the Edinburgh Auction Salesroom Lyon and Turnbull proved very successful with high bids on many different lots at there Five Centuries of Furniture Paintings and Works of Art held today 24th February 2022 and yesterday. This included the following lots of Meissen porcelain that fetched prices well over the estimates.

As follows:

Lot 549 MEISSEN FIGURE OF A CARPENTER 

MID 18TH CENTURY

from the series of tradesmen modelled by J.J. Kaendler and Peter Reinicke, the figure wearing a tricorn, a purple coat and an apron, holding an axe in one hand and supporting a long plank and saw with his other, the base moulded with rocaille scrolls and applied with leaves and flowers, underglaze blue crossed swords to reverse

MID 18TH CENTURY

from the series of tradesmen modelled by J.J. Kaendler and Peter Reinicke, the figure wearing a white shirt with a pale brown apron, holding an auger, the base with rocaille scrolls and applied with leaves and flowers, faint underglaze blue crossed swords to the reverse

Kaendler and Peter Reinicke, the figure holding an axe over his right shoulder, a joint of meat on a tree stump in front of him, wearing a tricorn, purple jacket, apron and green breeches, the base with rocaille scrolls and applied with leaves and flowers, underglaze blue crossed swords to the reverse of the base

MID 18TH CENTURY

From a series of tradesmen modelled by J.J. Kaendler and Peter Reinicke, one modelled as a cooper, wearing a green jacket and standing alongside a barrel, 24cm high, one modelled as a tinsmith, seated alongside his stove and wares, 17cm high together with TWO FURTHER 18TH CENTURY ARTISAN FIGURES, one modelled as a spinster (head lacking), 20cm high, the other as a gentleman wearing a tricorn hat, a lilac jacket and a white apron, holding pliers, (arm lacking) 22.5cm high, all with underglaze blue crossed swords to the reverse

Condition wise two of the figures were in very poor condition. One had the head missing; another an arm missing and other damages.
